My name is Darrell Farley

I am an artist who have chased a canvas most of my life. I finally caught up and have dedicated myself to producing paintings of how I see the world around me. I love to take every day street scapes or life scenes and add whimsical color to bring them alive. My style is folk like but not quite so simplistic. In every canvas I try and highlight things and areas that would normally be overlooked. Sometimes I do this by not having a central focus or having a central focus that turns your attention elsewhere in the canvas.

I have been a student, home builder, commercial contractor, pastor and chaplain. Even though I have put down the brushes from time to time I always seem to go back to my first love!
I attended college back in the 1980's focusing on graphic design. This is when I started falling in love with painting. I especially loved the American realist like Edward Hopper. For years I fought with oils on canvas. Then I discovered the colors, viscosity, layering and drying time of acrylics, especially the artist quality paints.

I have entered a few competitions and have painted with other serious artists, however, marketing my artwork is a new thing for me. Mostly self taught, I hope you enjoy my colorful world where hopefully you can see yourself somewhere in the canvas.
